“DO YOU SOMETIMES WONDER whatever happened to the beautiful dreams of youth? When the whole of life stretched before you and anything was possible, and you longed to stretch your wings and fly. But somehow the years crept up on you unawares and suddenly you find yourself in the autumn of life. It happens to us all if we are granted the privilege of living out our allotted life span. How do we handle it? Like the cynic who proclaims that youth is wasted on the young? Or do we gracefully surrender the things of youth as we grow and mature.
There are two kinds of fool in the world. There is the old fool who says that because it's old it must be good, and there is the young fool who says that because it's new it must be better. The young think that the old are foolish, but the old know that the young are foolish.
Youth should respect age because age has known youth but youth has not known age. And age should be patient, concerned, and tolerant of youth because we've all been there, and youthful idealism, however misguided, is a necessary antidote to the poison of middle-aged expediency.
‘Happy are those who find wisdom and those who get understanding, for her income is better than silver and her revenue better than gold. She is more precious than fine jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her’ (Proverbs 3:13-15)”
